Spring Fashion Week... Wednesday.

So after taking a few pictures today I realized that it's time to clean my mirror... there are little finger prints all over it.  I'll get on that before my next photo sesh.  And every day when I do this, the girls are really into it, then we end up taking tons of pictures of all of us in the mirror.

Happy Birthday Lane...

Just a quick little blog to wish my sweet husband a happy 27th birthday.

I can't believe that almost 10 years ago we were young and falling in love.  Nothing else in the world mattered but you.  And now we have this life... two precious little ones and a home.  And we still have love.  I'm so thankful for that.  The way I feel about you hasn't changed a bit.  I still love you so so much.  You amaze me.  You've accomplished more than some people do in a lifetime.  And I'm so proud of you.  You are so good to us girls.  Thank you for all you do.  I hope you have the happiest birthday!  I love you!

These ones are old school... I think we were 21 and 22?
  Whiskey, beer and love...

Spring Fashion Week... Monday.

So, today is the day.  The reality has set in that I have to get dressed every day for an entire week.  Aaaahh!  For right now I'm going to use a picture from this weekend... since I'm sitting here in my pajamas while I'm writing this blog... haha.

Dress: Urban Outfitters (borrowed from sis-in-law)

Running Grrrl Benefit Show!!!

So, we're throwing a little show... We need to raise money for our club to get things going.  If you live by us please come out.  It'll be fun!  And Lane and I are playing a few songs... this will probably be the one and only time this happens!  We're even thinking about doing a fun night run after the show:)

Spring Fashion Week...

I'm going to attempt to participate in this. I usually don't get dressed at all... meaning I stay in my pajamas all day until I change into my running gear, I go for a run, then I come home and take a shower and get into some clean pajamas. Gross, I know. So, this little spring fashion week will motivate me to actually put some real clothes on. I bet my husband will appreciate it.

So what you do is, everyday, get dressed (obviously), take a picture of yourself and post it on your blog, explaining what you're wearing. Fun!

You can check out the details at www.emeryjo.blogspot.com

Friends, you should do this too!

Busy, busy, busy...

I haven't had much time for blogging... I've been doing some blogging elsewhere... on our new blog for our Girls Running Team!!!  Me and a few other girls have been putting a lot of time and thought into this new club.  And it's coming along very quickly.  A lot more quickly than I thought it would.

Any of you girls that want to get in on a little running crew, please come out with us!  It's going to be so much fun!  I'll be posting all of the details about our upcoming runs at www.runninggrrrl.com

So, life is good... busy... but really good.  I'm loving life at home.  I love that life is simple for us.  I'm thankful for the life we have.  The girls are growing fast and starting to play together like sisters do.  There is also a lot of fighting involved.  I knew this was coming, I just didn't think it would be this soon!  I'm kind of scared to see what happens when they're teenagers.  Yikes.  I just hope and pray that they'll end up being the best of friends.

And also, I've been trying to talk Lane in to getting us one of these...

And he'll eventually become one of these...

Maybe I'm kind of wanting a baby?  I told Lane if he gets us one of these guys he can get a vasectomy.  And I'm serious.

Saturday Fun Run at Montana De Oro...

I also posted this on our new blog at runningrrrl.com but I also wanted to post it here for those of you that don't follow the new running blog!

We'd been planning our Saturday fun run all week. I was pretty bummed when I checked the weather forecast... rain, rain, rain. I woke up this morning, expecting the worst. Looked out the window and, guess what? NO rain. Hallelujah. We got ready and headed out. Met up with Jessica at Starbucks and drove to Montana De Oro. The sky was clear. The temperature was perfect. So, Lane (the husband) took us out. After our Madonna Mountain fiasco two weeks ago we knew we needed a guide. And thank goodness he was there. There were trails galore. So here goes our eight mile fun run...

The run started off easy. About three miles of flat trail right along the coast. It is so beautiful out there. Then we started the climb. About two and half miles and 1500 feet of up. Some parts were rough, really rough, but our spirits were high and we made it up without any complaints and with a little power walking. Our legs were burning, but that's when you know it's good. Lane ran ahead of us the whole time and took a bunch of pictures. He was pretty excited to be taking us out there. He's obsessed with that place. So we made it to the top and we rested for a couple minutes. The view was insane. And then we started our down hill. Lane helped us out and explained the technique. Watch where you're stepping, run on the balls of your feet, keep your back straight, and most importantly be careful. We flew down the hill and it was a blast. Down hill running is so weird, because you're going so fast so it should feel easy but at the same time your quads are on fire, so it's really challenging. Aaaahhh! It was so fun and so exhilarating. Definitely the most fun I've ever had on a run. We made it back to the car and I was actually really bummed that we were already done. We could have done more... and next time we will. And if you've never run the trails out at Montana De Oro then you're missing out.

Oh and one last thing... today was only my second time wearing my running skirt from runningskirts.com If you love to run and you don't have one of these you have got to get one. They're amazing.

Giving our legs a little break...

We made it!

Here it is!

Just started a new blog for our running club!

RUNNINGGRRRL

It'll get cooler, I promise. Once we actually start running together...

Girls Running Club...

Last weekend, my friend Jessica and I ran together for the fist time. It was fun. Really fun. I'd never run with another girl before. I run with Lane and I run with my brother. It's fun. I'm usually trying to keep up with them the whole time which is good because it's a challenge. But running with Jessica was just plain fun. First of all, what we did was kind of crazy... an adventure. We tried to run up Madonna Mountain the day after a pretty good storm. Our run started out running/walking through ankle deep sludge. Then we snuck past some horses, hiked up a steep muddy hill, hiked up another steep hill, then got lost numerous times And our shoes were soaked the entire time. We ran when we could and it was a blast. We talked and enjoyed the beautiful weather. It was amazing.

So here's the idea. A girls running club... or a crew. Whatever you want to call it.

We'll meet every other Saturday, or even every Saturday. We'll choose a different trail every week, or do road runs sometimes. We'll plan on runs between 5-8 miles, give or take a few miles. It'll just be so nice to get out, away from life, and be with other women, running.

I got started on this idea because I read this blog. There is this girl, named Devon Crosby Helms, she's amazing. The first really big trail run she did was 30 miles for one of her best girlfriends 30th birthdays. In her blog she writes about traveling all over the country, running with her friends. Sometimes they do races, sometimes they just run 50 miles for fun... together. And I thought it would be incredible to have that kind of support from friends. To call each other and up and say, "Hey, let's run 15 miles this weekend."

And there's more...

I'm hoping to start this and eventually get a core group of girls. And then with that core group we can do something cool. Reach out to other women and girls that want to run but just don't have the motivation or the support to get started. We'll help them out, get them started, talk about eating healthy, and eventually we can all run a race together, a 5K or a 10K, something like that.

Also, I'm thinking about starting a separate blog... where we can all post about our weekend runs, races we do together, or about things that we're liking... shoes, clothes, food, etc.

This could be really amazing. I need input. I need suggestions. I think this could really work if a bunch of us were passionate about it. Let's do it!
