Fun Fun Fun.

Today we got a really fun package in the mail... Claire was always finding knives in the kitchen (yikes, usually just butter knives) and she'd go grab her plastic fruits and veggies and pretend to cut them up an make food for us. So I found these little sets on Amazon. They're by Melissa & Doug, which is really fun company that makes all these cool wood toys. They also have a little wooden sushi set which is next on my list to buy for Claire. But these sets were only $15 each on Amazon which is a really good deal, I think. It's got bread, veggies and fruit and they velcro together and then Claire sits for hours and cuts them up with her little wooden knife (much safer than a real knife) on her little cutting board. It's a pretty awesome invention if you ask me.

Potty time... maybe...

I don't want to get too excited, but Claire is totally wanting to go pee pee in her potty. It started last night. She ripped her diaper off and was running around. She told me FOUR times, that's right FOUR, that she had to go pee pee and she proceeded to run to the bathroom sit her little booty down and go. She didn't ask for a reward or anything. She just knew she had to go so she did it. But we do have a problem. If she's not wearing a diaper or panties (aka completely naked) she can feel that she has to go and she won't go on the floor but if she's wearing panties, she just goes in them... I guess because she feels that something is there so she pees? I don't know. But hopefully this is the beginning of something great. I would LOVE to only have to change one babes diaper all the time.

Real Food.

So tomorrow, I get to go out for the afternoon. I'm so excited because I NEED to get out without the babies so bad. I get to go to coffee and a movie with Noelle. I got a little stressed tonight because I don't have any milk pumped for Faye, and she is definitely not a fan of the bottle anyway. So going out is always a bit stressful for me. This evening I had my mom try and give Faye a bottle of soy formula... no go. Then we tried a bottle of milk formula... hated it. Then my mom had the brilliant idea of trying some rice cereal... loved it! I guess I should say "liked" it. She only had about four bites but she really seemed to enjoy it and smiled the whole time and seemed very proud of herself. What a big girl! So, tomorrow when Faye is starving, she can have a few bites of rice cereal to hold her over until I get home. Hooray! I feel like with Claire it took so long to get to this milestone. But time has really flown by with Faye. The whole time we were feeding her I kept saying how sad I was. She's already four months old! Four months old today actually. She's growing so fast and it breaks my heart!

Soup on a rainy day...

I've been really into making soup lately. Like good homemade soup with whatever veggies I have around. Today I made a bell pepper and tomato soup that turned out so good!! I just thought I'd share the recipe. It's extremely easy and very very tasty.

2 red bell peppers
1 onion
4 cloves of garlic

Chop everything up and saute it in a tablespoon or so of butter or some olive oil.

After that puree it until it's creamy and smooth.

Put it back into the saute pan and add 3 cups of chicken broth or veggie broth.

Add 1 can of tomato sauce.

Add a little pepper and a few pinches of oregano or whatever spices sound good to you.

Boil for a few minutes.

This turned out really good. It's sweet but without any added sugar. And then we topped it off with a little cheese and dipped crackers in it. I ate it for lunch and dinner. And Claire loved it!

Faye's latest...

This video is so dark... I know. But weird... last night I was hanging out with my parents and I said, "I wonder when Faye will sit up?" So I plopped her down and she just sat there, by herself, for like five minutes. Now, I know she's a little slouched over. She holds herself up and balances with her hands... but I consider this "sitting up". Haha. I just think it's funny.

Our weekend getaway...

Lane and I had the privilege of going to our friend Nicks wedding this weekend. It was pretty amazing. First of all it was pouring rain the whole way down to LA... I mean pouring... like scary to drive in pouring. Nick asked everyone to pray that it wouldn't rain during the wedding since it was outside... things were not looking good. It poured pretty much all night on Friday and then the whole morning and afternoon before the wedding. But amazingly enough the sky cleared up about an hour before the wedding and the sun came out and it was even a little bit warm! The day was beautiful and perfect for a wedding. Nick's bride Yanessa was sooo incredibly beautiful. Her dress was perfect. And their vows were the sweetest thing I've ever heard in my life. I can honestly say that this might have been the most special wedding I've ever been too. I mean all weddings are so special but there was something about these two. They were seriously in a world of their own the whole entire time. They couldn't keep their eyes off of each other. I just kept watching them and getting teary eyed then telling Lane, "I love them! They are so perfect for each other." And also, seeing Nick get married was just weird... not in a bad way... but I think he was that guy that you just couldn't picture getting married. But he found the perfect girl and now they are married and on their way to Italy. (I'm a little bit jealous about that.) The actual wedding part was beautiful. The flowers were fabulous. (Good job Lori.) And one thing I loved were their wedding favors, which were these little jars of delicious honey and the lid was stamped with a "B" for Bowser. What a cute idea! And one more cool thing... they had a photo booth at the reception. So everyone got in a line and we had our pictures taken in this photo booth. We taped some into their memory book and wrote a little message to the newlyweds and then we got to keep as many as we wanted. It was pretty awesome.

And also Lane and I got to spend time together. It's been awhile. We were able to leave Claire at home with my parents and just bring Faye which was pretty awesome. Faye is such an easy little thing so she just enjoyed herself and enjoyed being passed around. We stayed in a hotel... along with everyone else and had some really good hang out time with friends. We got to go swimming both nights we were there. It was just so nice to get away. It was like a little vacation. One of the best parts of the weekend may have been the drive there and back. Just being able to talk to Lane without being interrupted by a certain little someone was really nice. I think we as parents forget how nice it is just to sit and have an adult conversation. Being with Lane made me really excited for the outage to be over so we can actually see each other for more than one hour a day. That'll be fun!

But I will say that I did miss my little Claire. I called to talk to her a few times a day and loved hearing her tiny little voice. It's hard to be away from someone when you're with them ALLLLL the time. It was almost too quiet without her around.

Now we're home and doing our usual... watching a movie, getting ready for bed, getting ready to start a new week tomorrow. And life goes on...

Update on Life...

Just a quick update. Life is good... or getting better. I'm slowly conquering my fears... of germs and sicknesses. I've just realized that so many things are out of my control and I have to be fine with that because obviously there is nothing I can do about it but wash my hands and keep my house clean. So I have a little peace now, in knowing that I'm doing the best I can. Even the cleanest of people get sick. My biggest fear is being sick and not being able to take care of my little ones. But I guess I'll deal with that when the time comes.

So what else is new? Let's see. Claire is doing a pretty good job of sleeping in her own little bed in our room. She sleeps in her bed every night for most of the night now. Here's how our night typically goes though... it's pretty intense. The past few nights Claire has been wanting to fall asleep in bed with me... which is fine. She has to bring all of her "stuff", which includes her special pillow, two blankets (which are pretty big), a rather large Pooh bear, a medium sized stuffed dog, a little turtle named Owen (haha, all of her babies are named after Taryn's kids), and as many paci's as she can find before bed. ALOT of stuff. So we get situated and she falls asleep. Oh and don't forget we also have a little nursing baby in bed with us too... it can get pretty crowded. After Claire falls asleep I proceed to move her and all of her things into her little bed across the room. Usually around 4:00 am I hear Claire, "Here you go mommy." She always says this and starts making trips back and forth handing me her things. Her pillow, two blankets, Pooh bear, dog, turtle and one paci at a time. And every time she hands me one thing she says, "Here you go mommy." Annnd, every night when this happens of course Faye wakes up and is ready to eat. So after getting Claire situated for the third time of the night I go and get Faye out of her little bed and now we're all up. Claire goes back to sleep pretty quickly (most of the time) but Faye is another story. So I guess this is what you'd call a "family bed". It seems crazy, I know. But once Claire can sleep through without waking up we'll be good to go.

Another thing... Faye found her feet and is completely OBSESSED.

And also, I'm super happy that it's raining today. It's such a good excuse to sit around, watch t.v., write blogs, chat on facebook, etc. And Claire doesn't mind since she'd watch t.v. allll day long if she could. It's a bad habit but on a day like today it's okay with me.

Time for pictures.
